In this experiment the student carries out a test for carbon dioxide using a beaker of wood ash, a beaker cover with a sieve, a beaker of water, some candles, a funnel, an ‘Onion’ Bulb (without a filament) and a clamp. Many gases like carbon dioxide are colorless and odorless so different tests have been designed to help tell them apart and use them appropriately.
